The Human Resources function has taken on a more central leadership role with the challenges and workplace evolution of the past few years. From managing the shifting landscape for attracting, retaining, and engaging talent to staying abreast of the workplace upheavals impacting the business the new normal for HR is managing change and supporting organizational transformation. As the role of HR has expanded and become more complex, there is a critical need for developing new skills and capabilities for HR teams. Often, however, HR development falls by the wayside.

CAHRS Executive Director Beth Flynn-Ferry and ILR Senior Leader Programs Director Karen Siewert will lead a discussion about how CAHRS companies are evolving their learning and development strategy to thrive in the new world of work. Some of the topics and questions that will guide the discussion include:

  • What capabilities are your key priorities? How are you targeting these at various levels?
  • How is learning content being co-created?
  • How are you combining formal learning with other development experiences?
  • What are some innovative approaches to engage individuals and teams?
  • How are you leveraging communities of practice?
  • How are you measuring the impact of your learning and development?
  • How are you supporting a learning culture?

Our virtual working groups are kept small (15-25 participants) to allow for rich discussion and best practice sharing. Given the limited size of each session, we ask that you only register for a session if you will be able to attend for the duration. Prior to the session, attendees should give some thought to the questions included in the description, so they are prepared to share with the group. We also strongly prefer that participants be on camera during the session to allow for more engaging interaction. If for some reason after you sign up for the working group, something comes up last minute (especially while many of us are working from home), it would be great to get even a last-minute e-mail advising us that you cannot attend as we sometimes have a waiting list.
