CAHRS Virtual Working Group - The Current State of Performance Management

In the mid 2010’s, performance management was a source of frequent discussion as companies sought to streamline their processes, better align performance management with other parts of the HR system, and equip managers to have more frequent and productive conversations with employees. In subsequent years these discussions diminished as companies settled into their new performance management processes, but once again are being reinvigorated by heightened competitive pressures and a desire to achieve greater alignment between performance and reward structures. Indeed, a recent CAHRS survey revealed that a refresh of performance and rewards is a top priority for HR leaders for 2025.

Overview

The goal of this CAHRS virtual working group is to assess the current state of performance management across our CAHRS companies. In particular, we will examine how companies have evolved their performance management systems in recent years and identify other changes they see on the horizon. We will analyze the key drivers of these changes, including a desire to better align performance and reward structures. Finally, we explore emerging opportunities and challenges, including how generative artificial intelligence can be used to support performance management tasks and whether we need to once again rethink performance management to match the realities of today’s work, workers, and workplace.

The target audience for this working group is individuals who have responsibility for designing or implementing performance management and rewards systems within their companies.

Given that we limit the number of registrations to our working groups to allow for rich discussion and best practice sharing, we ask that you only register for a session if you will be able to attend for the duration. Prior to the session, attendees should give some thought to topic that will be discussed and come prepared to engage actively in the discussion. We also strongly prefer that participants be on camera during the session to allow for more engaging interaction. We understand that sometimes things come up which we do not anticipate. If for some reason after you sign up for the working group and cannot attend, we would appreciate an email – even right up until the last minute, as these popular events often have waiting lists
