Engaging and Retaining Key Talent VIRTUAL Working Group - WAT LIST STARTED
March 22, 2023 |11:30am 1:00pm (ET)
As the employment landscape continues to evolve, engaging and retaining key talent remains a critical priority and notable challenge for organizations. In this working group, led by Rebecca Kehoe, Associate Professor, Human Resource Studies, we will discuss the most pressing issues that organizations are facing in talent engagement and retention and consider what strategies may be most effective in navigating these challenges in todays environment.
A few of the questions that will guide our discussion include:
What do you see as the most significant barriers to employee engagement and retention facing your organization right now?
Has your organization tried any new strategies to improve engagement and retention? What has worked well? What has not worked as well?
Has your organization made any changes in how it supports employees skill development, career pathing, or internal mobility more generally as part of your engagement and retention efforts? If so, have these practices been rolled out broadly across the workforce or have they been more targeted to a subset of key employees?
In the last couple of years, the notion of purpose has been highlighted as a critical element in strengthening employees commitment to organizations. Is this still a point of focus? If so, how is the notion of purpose factoring into your engagement and retention efforts?
What do you see as the most promising (or critical) opportunities for HR to partner with people managers in your organization to improve employee engagement and retention? How and where do you see this happening more/less effectively in your organization? What are the biggest barriers to this collaboration?
Our virtual working groups are kept small to allow for rich discussion and best practice sharing. Given the limited size of each session, we ask that you only register for a session if you will be able to attend for the duration. Prior to the session, attendees should give some thought to the questions above so they are prepared to share with the group. We also strongly prefer that participants be on camera during the session to allow for more engaging interaction.
