Skinner Participates in NYC LERA

The New York City LERA and Rutgers Center for Global Work and Employment present "Climate Change and the Future of Workers: Toward a Just Transition." The virtual panel on climate change and the future of work focuses on the importance of including worker and community voices in shaping and implementing transitions to ensure the potential for just outcomes.

MIJIN CHA, is a research scholar with a focus on climate change and environmental justice. Miljin is an assistant professor at Occidental College, Urban and Environmental Policy Department and a Fellow at Cornell University’s Worker Institute. Miljin is also on the Board of Center on Race, Poverty, and the Environment (CRPE) and Welcome Ideas. She was previously an Adjunct Professor at Fordham University School of Law, Associate Director at PolicyLink, Senior Policy Analyst at Demos, and Director of Campaign Research/ Policy Director at Urban Agenda (now ALIGN).

TODD VACHON, is an Assistant Professor at Rutgers at The State University of New Jersey where he is the Director of the Labor Education Action Research Network (LEARN). As the Director of LEARN, Todd oversees the University’s labor education programs, including classes and workshops for workers, unions, and other organizations and public programming.

LARA SKINNER, Ph.D., is the Director of the Worker Institute’s Labor Leading on Climate Initiative at Cornell University’s School of Industrial Labor Relations (ILR). Dr. Skinner studies the labor and employment impacts of climate protection, clean energy and just transition, and provides training and education programs for unions to help union leaders and members engage in the public debates and decision making around climate protection and clean energy. Dr. Skinner, along with Dr. Mijin Cha, authored the 2017 report “Reversing Inequality, Combatting Climate Change: A Climate Jobs Program for New York State.”
