Happy New Year from the Labor Leadership Program’s Team!
Happy New Year from the Labor Leadership Program’s team! We have been so privileged to support union leaders for the past two years, as they navigated the incredible challenges associated with the pandemic and lit the way forward toward a safer, healthier, and more economically sound world. The values of innovation, adaptation, and resiliency that we recommend to participants in our leadership programs, guided our work in 2021. We adapted our programs to create online offerings and developed new programs that focused on leading through crisis and trauma.
In 2022, we are excited to welcome two new amazing leaders to our team. Tamara Robinson comes to us with experience working with AFSCME, CIR, and 1199 as a political organizer, a contract organizer, and directing a training fund. She also has a strong background in activism and movement leadership around reproductive and racial justice. For most of the past 15 years, Elaine Kim served in senior staff leadership roles at SEIU 32BJ. She brings to our team expertise in organizational development, strategic planning, and staff management. We know these two amazing women will contribute greatly to our programs and will expand our ability to support your work.
The pandemic has only heightened the importance of supporting union leaders’ development and skills. At every level, labor’s standard operating procedures have been rendered irrelevant and so we are all forging new skills and capacities while we face life-or-death decisions for our members and the working class. We look forward to continuing this work in the coming year and supporting the movement to build an economy that prioritizes the physical and economic health and safety of working people.
Thank you for supporting our work, and for the tremendous privilege of working side by side with you and your teams to build a more just and beautiful world.
