ILR School’s Impact on New York State

The ILR School interacted with more than 20,000 people and 500 partner organizations across New York State in 2024. Established by the New York State Legislature as a state contract college 79 years ago, ILR remains committed to improving the lives of working people through its Outreach units and programs. 

The NYS Public Impact report is a window into how ILR applied research, data shares, tools and training inform labor, economic and other issues at the heart of daily life for many of the state’s 20 million residents.

In emerging industries such as green energy and cannabis to long-standing issues such as child care and fair wages, the ILR School puts research into action by training workers, unions, organizations and communities, and by bringing together diverse stakeholders to build community partnerships.
