Drew Duncan: EMHRM Worth the Investment
Drew Duncan had worked for 12 years at Biogen when he decided to enroll in the EMHRM program.
“It's going to pay back in dividends,” he told himself. Seven years later, he says, “It certainly has.”
“The program was affordable, given its value, and my company helped with tuition assistance. It’s paid back what I put in.”
“After graduating, I believe I stepped up and contributed at a higher level, and my leadership recognized that with a promotion,” said Drew, based in Durham, North Carolina.
A 2018 EMHRM graduate, he is Biogen’s HR leader for global manufacturing and technical operations in the United States and Switzerland. The organization’s work includes developing treatments for Alzheimer’s disease, lupus, multiple sclerosis and postpartum depression.
“I'm honored that I was able to complete the program and call myself a graduate of the ILR School and the EMHRM program, in particular. I have nothing but praise for Cornell, ILR and EMHRM.”
“It’s challenging, but it’s fun. When I finished, to my surprise, I missed the weekly discussions, which were highly engaging and thought-provoking.
His advice to prospective students: “Be prepared to think differently and immerse yourselves for an optimal experience. I also suggest taking full advantage of the time to network and socialize with students and faculty.”
“I wholeheartedly recommend the EMHRM program and encourage people to really consider it.”
