Sally Klingel Named Scheinman Institute Executive Director
Sally Klingel, the Director of Labor-Management Relations Programs for the Scheinman Institute, has been appointed the Institute’s Executive Director.
The announcement was made by Ariel Avgar, David M. Cohen ’73 Professor of Labor Relations and Senior Associate ILR Dean for Outreach and Sponsored Research.
In his statement Avgar noted that Klingel has played numerous central roles within Outreach and the Scheinman Institute and brings a tremendous amount of experience to this role. Klingel will oversee operational aspects of the Scheinman Institute, including professional programs.
Harry C. Katz, Jack Sheinkman Professor of Collective Bargaining and Director of the Scheinman Institute stated that, “Sally’s breadth of experience with the Institute makes her the perfect person for this position. I look forward to working with her in this new role.”
Klingel has been serving as the Director of Labor-Management Relations Programs for the Scheinman Institute over the past 15 years, where she has designed and taught public, customized, and online programs on workplace conflict management processes, collective bargaining, negotiation techniques, and labor-management partnerships.
Her work with Cornell has included teaching undergraduate courses, conducting research on collective bargaining, labor-management partnerships, and conflict resolution processes, and providing education and consulting services to labor and management groups nation-wide.
Klingel holds a M.S. in Organizational Behavior from Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations, and a B.A. from the University of Michigan. She has authored articles, monographs and book chapters on innovations in labor-management relations.
