Doris Tapia is originally from Peru and she currently lives in New York. She is a professional Nanny and house cleaner with over 20 years of experience. Takes joy in watching children grow, through her work, she is sowing the seeds of a brighter tomorrow, one where the values, compassion, education and empowerment shapes the leaders and innovators of the future.
Doris is a We Rise Nanny Lead Trainer with the National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA), Carroll Gardens Association (CGA) and the Worker Institute at Cornell University, ILR School. She is a leading member of Care Forward Initiative helping to strengthen communication between employers and workers to raise standards across the domestic worker industry. Doris has more than 6 years of experience as a facilitator in the domestic worker movement, including building and developing other trainers and supporting the coordination of training programs. She supports domestic workers to perform their jobs with more professionalism and power by asserting their rights and seeking better standards in the workplace.
Recognizing the importance of mental health, she has integrated this knowledge into her facilitation, fostering an environment that not only educates but also supports the emotional and mental resilience of domestic workers.
Her role as a curriculum and program designer for We Rise reflects her passion for shaping educational initiatives that empower workers, addressing not only their professional needs but also their professional growth.
Doris also freelances in the Culinary Arts and is a licensed lifeguard. She also enjoys traveling, swimming, cooking, dancing, exploring, helping those in need and is a dog lover.
