Hoek Spaans is the Assistant Director of Research at the Cornell ILR Climate Jobs Institute.
They are a founding outreach faculty member of the Institute and specialize in research and policy development at the intersection of equity, labor, and climate change mitigation and adaptation. They oversee a cutting-edge multidisciplinary research team that conducts participatory-based research with the labor movement to create tools, research, and policy guidelines that moves forward a just green economy.
Hoek Spaans received their M.A. in Climate and Society from Columbia University and B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Florida. They are a trained organizer, scientist, and abolitionist.
