Cheryl Teare
Senior Extension Associate, Labor Relations Programs
Cheryl Teare brings twenty years of experience designing and delivering training and skill development to leaders in labor. She develops high-level organization interventions, such as dispute resolution merger discussions among affiliates and custom-designed training. She has a track record of working successfully in complex environments. Her work includes working with locals to address issues of justice, race, ethnicity, and inclusion. Cheryl is a licensed attorney as well as a certified employment law mediator. She serves on the Advisory Board of the Cornell ILR Scheinman Institute for Dispute Resolution.
A highlight of her work includes:
- Key role in establishing this, the AFT/Cornell Collective Bargaining Initiative
- Serving as “go-to” person for internal conflict resolution amongst local and state leaders
- Led team in the design and implementation of AFT the new and revised Leadership Development initiative
- Working with large state federations and locals to train, support, and educate new executive boards.
- Overseeing the development of the online, asynchronous AFT Executive Board Training
- Past President of the United Association for Labor Education
