Kate Krug
Kate Krug is an advocate for the women of New York City, particularly for tradeswomen in the unionized construction industry. Kate’s support for tradeswomen is reflected best in her impact within Nontraditional Employment for Women (NEW). Kate joined the leadership team of NEW in September 2019 and partners with the President to support NEW’s mission to prepare, train, and place women in careers in the skilled construction, utility, and maintenance trades, helping women achieve economic independence and a secure future for themselves and their families. At the same time, NEW provides a pipeline of qualified workers to the industries that build, move, power, green, and maintain New York. As NEW’s Executive Vice President, Kate's brand of positive, creative thinking has led to an innovative fundraising strategy meant to increase and sustain revenue contributing to an annual budget of $4 million.
Prior to joining NEW, Kate raised critically needed funds that aided survivors of domestic violence, empowered veterans with employment opportunities, and assisted those experiencing homelessness. Kate sits on the Board for the NY State Coalition Against Domestic Violence, holds an M.S. in Fundraising Management from Columbia University, and is a graduate of the Inaugural NYC Institute of Nonprofit Practice cohort. Kate’s dedication to workforce development, gender equity and racial justice is palpable.
